Calming the Agitated Resident

4 hr
50 Canadian dollars
O'Connor Drive

Service Description

It takes a special person to work in a long-term care environment—a person with patience, respect for people who are elderly and a deep sense of caring. Although working in a long-term care setting brings many rewards, there are frustrations and challenges as well. Some elderly residents, especially those with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia, may exhibit disruptive behaviours. They may be irritable, stubborn, argumentative, verbally abusive, or even physically aggressive. The overall goal of this program is to help caregivers provide residents with the best possible care.
